About the artist
Mikka Jacobson is a visual artist whose work is inspired by motherhood, faith, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Working primarily in painting, plaster and mixed media, she creates textured, often sculpted, symbolic pieces that reflect moments of presence, wonder, and connection.
Born and raised in Cebu, Philippines, Mikka holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and a Master of Education in TESL from the University of the Philippines. Her background in communication and storytelling continues to shape her artistic voice, informing a visual language rooted in meaning beyond what is immediately seen.
Inspired by life with her children and the rhythms of home, Mikka’s work explores the space between fragility and strength—where ordinary moments carry lasting significance.
Now based in Volo, Illinois, Mikka creates while raising her family. Her work has been exhibited in local galleries and community art spaces. When she is not painting, she can be found adventuring with her children, serving through church ministries and nonprofit organizations, or immersed in a good book.
